Since it is a member-only service, you need to log in. After running the app, touch [Start with Kakao Account] to automatically log in through KakaoTalk. If you are logging in anew, you must additionally proceed with SMS authentication with your mobile phone number.

Now you are taken to the first screen of the app. There are various types of mobility to choose from, such as taxi, black, surrogate, parking, carpool, navigator, shuttle, intercity bus, and train. Select [Bike] among them. Then, a screen asking for the user’s consent to use the service appears. Matters regarding the collection and use of location information, consignment of personal information, etc. Complete individual checks, including the required ones.
You can select [Do it later], but it is recommended to complete it at the beginning as it is a process that must be completed at any time to use the service.

With Kakao T Bike, the entire process of renting, returning, and paying for a bike is done through the app, so the payment method must also be registered in the app. This is because on-site payment or cash payment is not possible. If you click the [Register payment method] button at the bottom of the screen, you can select one of My Kakao T Points, credit card, check card, mobile phone, or PayPal and register it as an automatic payment.

If you have already registered a payment method such as KakaoTalk, you can link it. If not, you can register a new one by directly entering card information. After registration is complete, you must click the [Apply] button.
After entering your payment information, you will be required to prepay a deposit for your first use. The deposit is 10,000 won and can be refunded if you do not use the service or withdraw after payment. The hourly Kakao Bike fee is deducted from the prepaid fee of KRW 10,000, and the payment is made automatically.

The payment method information entered in this way can be modified at any time through the [My Information] – [Payment Method Management] menu. You can delete the registered information or add a new card. Please note that if there are multiple payment methods, the user may select and use one method to use when paying for Kakao Bike.

After all the initial setup is done, it’s time to find a real bike and use it. Based on my location on the GPS, electric bikes in the surrounding area are searched. If you click each, the serial number, charging status, driving time, and fare of the 1st/2nd generation models will appear. When you find the bike you want, tap [Use Bike].

For reference, Kakao T Bike is currently only available in Seongnam, Wirye, Yeonsu-gu, Jeonju, Ulsan, Hanam, Songpa, Seo-gu, Ansan, Daegu, Busan, and Gwangju. It is gradually expanding, but not available in all regions.
After renting, it is okay to ride a bicycle and move to unserviced areas. You can go anywhere, but apart from driving, parking and return are always possible only in the service area. If this is violated, the return will not be processed properly or an additional fee of 20,000 won will be charged.

If you find a bike with a matching serial number at a place on the actual map, the app authenticates the QR code on the handlebar or near the rear wheel. Charges are calculated from the moment the authentication is completed and the lock is unlocked. If the QR code is not read well by the camera, click the license plate icon at the bottom left and manually enter the 6-digit number with the keypad to authenticate.

Since no special parking area is set, the user can get off anywhere and return the device through the app once the ride is complete. However, you must not park in an underground space, a hidden space known only to yourself, or a private space, and you must not lock it with a personal lock. Also, avoid parking in a crowded space or in an obstruction of traffic. Taking this into account, after completing the use, the app checks whether it is within the service area and returns the bike. The bicycle lock must also be locked at this time.

If the lock device is locked without any problems, the Kakao Bike fee is automatically paid along with the usage completion screen through the app. You must check all of these messages to see that the normal return has been processed. If the message does not appear, an error may have occurred, so you must process it through the customer center.
